- Apache Beach Publications, George Chesbro's self-publishing imprint, will be acquiring a second printer (Replica) and distributor (Baker & Taylor) this week. Hopefully, this will increase the presence of the Chesbro books in the bookstores.

- Here's an update from George Chesbro regarding his trip to France.
Thanks to government funding of the arts, about forty writers, including Gregory MacDonald and George V. Higgins, were all brought together in the French towns of Montpellier and Frontignan for a four day festival celebrating roman noir, or "black novel" (as one Italian author notably put it, roman noir is social commentary written by anti-social people). Anyway, Mongo, who is very popular in France, showed the colors, and we sold some books. Otherwise, days and nights of great food, wine and talk.He also reported that his French publisher is preparing to publish the Chant novels.

- The short story list was completed, thanks to Mr. Chesbro. He also sent me the following updates on what he's been up to lately:
- American publishers haven't been interested in Mongo for the past few years. The paperback rights to the last two Mongo novels, Bleeding in the Eye of a Brainstorm and Dream of a Falling Eagle remain unsold.
Mr. Chesbro wrote:
Lest there be any misunderstanding, let me hasten to add that Mongo is not retired. I'm sure he and Garth have been up to all sorts of things (and probably living in their villa in Paris) since I last touched base with them. If and when an American publisher is interested, I'll check in with them to see what they've been up to.
- His novels have been very popular lately in France. Bone approached best-sellerdom. His publisher, Rivages, plans to publish all his novels. Mr. Chesbro visited Paris last year to promote the publication of Cold Smell of Sacred Stone. Second Horseman Out of Eden will be published there soon. In June, Mr. Chesbro will be traveling to France as a guest of Soleil Noir, a festival that will be discussing American roman noir this year.
- On the movie front, Bone has been optioned a number of times, but no film has been made yet. The Fear In Yesterday's Rings is currently under option, and Mr. Chesbro has written the screenplay. He said he'd send me any update of developments on that project.
- He's been writing a long novel that "I hope will be as different in its way as (I like to think) a dwarf detective is/was."
Thanks to Mr. Chesbro for the information he has provided for this web site! As I get updates in the future, I'll add them here.
